10-Day Intensive Chan Retreat: Investigating Huatou

Words of Wisdom
Chan Master Sheng Yen

The practice comes in letting phenomena -- objects, ideas, feelings -- come and go without clinging to them, dwelling on them, indulging in them. The same is true when you meditate. You don't deal with your thoughts and emotions by suppressing them or denying them. You simply watch them come and go, like the wind.
